Numerical simulation of convex shape beam spot on stress field of plasma-sprayed MCrAlY coating during laser cladding process

To reduce the thermal stress at clad layer and further crack generation in laser cladding process, a method of controlling cracks by changing energy density is proposed. Comparative thermal–mechanical coupling finite element analysis was performed on uniform rectangular convex shape beam spot processes plasma-sprayed MCrAlY coating through numerical simulation based ANSYS software. Results show that rapid heating cooling characteristics, which are typical processing, manifested process using spot, whereas can exert preheating slow effects to certain extent, thereby reducing temperature gradient non-cladding zones. In addition, precondition equivalent effect, also low, enabling effective mitigation cracking tendency layer. Relative beam-shaped diffractive optical special for design manufacturing, superposing two spots with different sizes densities simpler more obtaining spot.
